BCHR is a non-profit and non-governmental organization aiming to provide health, nutrition, food security and protection services as a humanitarian response to the escalating socio-economic situation in Yemen since 2015.BCHR aims to ensure the quality and safety of food provided to children and families in the targeted communities.
Job Summary:
The Quality Control Supervisor will oversee the quality assurance processes for food preparation and distribution.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Quality Assurance Oversight: Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure that all meals served in the school feeding program meet nutritional standards and safety regulations.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of meal preparation and service processes to ensure compliance with food safety protocols and nutritional guidelines.
• Training and Capacity Building: Provide training and support to kitchen staff and food service personnel on best practices in food handling, preparation, and sanitation, fostering a culture of quality and safety.
• Nutritional Analysis: Collaborate with nutritionists to analyze the nutritional content of meals, ensuring that they meet the dietary needs of children and adhere to established guidelines.
• Field Inspections: Perform routine field visits to schools and distribution points to monitor food quality, portion sizes, and service practices, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement.
• Incident Reporting: Establish and maintain a system for reporting and addressing food safety incidents, including contamination, spoilage, and other quality concerns.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate communication and collaboration with local authorities, health officials, and community stakeholders to promote transparency and accountability in food quality standards.
• Data Management: Collect and analyze data related to meal participation, food quality metrics, and compliance reports, using this information to inform decision-making and program improvements.
• Feedback Mechanisms: Implement feedback mechanisms for beneficiaries to report on food quality and service, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all food preparation and service activities comply with relevant local, national, and international food safety regulations and standards.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on quality control activities, findings from evaluations, and recommendations for program enhancements to management.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to continuously improve the quality of the school feeding program through ongoing training, evaluation, and adaptation of quality control practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• University degree in a related subject.
• At least 3 - 5 years’ experience working in food security.
• Previous experience in a humanitarian setting.
• Excellent interpersonal and representative skills (written, oral, cross - cultural).
• Experience working with governments, UN bodies, INGOs and local NGOs.
