In a country like Yemen, obtaining a source of income in war circumstances is considered an achievement worth celebrating.
Hend, a lady from Hadhramaut, receives monthly cash assistance from the WFP through the BCHR for her participation in the rehabilitation of agricultural assets.
Hend bears the burden of supporting her six-member family. This burden pushed her to think about finding a source of income to secure her family's basic needs. Indeed, she managed to buy a number of beehives, and she is hoping to sell her honey products soon.
The war in Yemen, now in its seventh year, has doubled the burdens on women, as conditions pushed thousands of them to engage in hard works in order to provide additional income to cope with the high prices of basic commodities.
"I have great ambition of self-sustainment through this project," Hend says, who and her alikes motivate us to continue to support the involvement of women in our projects.
Hend is grateful for the WFP for involving females in its projects, especially the women who bear the burden of supporting their families in these difficult situations.
In addition to supporting Hend, the FFA project in Hadramout Governorate, which is implemented by BCHR and funded by WFP, contributed to providing the basic needs for 7000 HHs in Hadramout Governorate.
